What you need for a Boat costume

How to put it together

Cut the top and bottom flaps off a large rectangular cardboard box so you can stand inside it.

Cut and tape additional cardboard pieces to the front and back of the box to form a pointed bow and a flat stern.

Paint the entire cardboard boat structure white, adding a blue stripe along the bottom hull and a painted-on name for your vessel.

Attach two thick fabric straps or suspenders to the inside of the box so it can hang comfortably from your shoulders.

Put on a blue-and-white striped shirt and dark pants or shorts.

Step into the cardboard boat, pull the straps over your shoulders, and top off the look with a white captain's hat.
