What you need for a Towelie costume

Blue Towel Bodysuit
A rectangular, sleeveless light blue tunic or oversized beach towel shaped into a sandwich board with white stripes at the top and bottom.
DIY: Drape a large light blue beach towel over a cardboard box or wire frame, cutting out armholes and a face hole.
Cartoon Eyes and Mouth
Large, half-lidded cartoon eyes with red, bloodshot veins and a simple black curved smile printed or painted on the front.
DIY: Cut large circles out of white felt, draw red squiggly lines with a fabric marker for the bloodshot look, and glue them to the front.
Yellow Washcloth Prop
A small yellow washcloth or hand towel to carry around as a prop.
DIY: Use any small yellow kitchen towel or rag you have at home.
Undergarments
Plain black long-sleeve shirt and black pants or leggings to wear underneath the towel structure.

How to put it together

Put on the solid black long-sleeve shirt and black pants to create a neutral background for the costume.

Slip on the rectangular light blue Towelie tunic or sandwich-board structure over your head.

Ensure your arms fit comfortably through the side armholes and the face opening aligns correctly if using a full-coverage version.

Attach the large, bloodshot cartoon eyes and black felt mouth to the front of the blue towel if you are building the DIY version.

Carry the yellow washcloth prop in your hand or tuck it into the side of the costume.

Makeup & hair
