What you need for a Fire Truck costume

How to put it together

Cut off the top and bottom flaps of a rectangular cardboard box so it can slip over the wearer's torso.

Paint the entire outside of the box bright red, or wrap it tightly in red poster board using glue or tape.

Glue four black paper plates to the lower sides of the box to serve as wheels, adding small silver paper circles in the center for hubcaps.

Use silver and yellow tape to construct ladders on the sides and headlights on the front of the truck.

Measure and attach two thick black ribbon straps from the front inside of the box to the back inside, crossing them in an 'X' shape to keep them from slipping off the shoulders.

Put on red or black clothing underneath, slip the box straps over the shoulders, and top off the look with a red plastic firefighter hat.
